Summary :
In this section of the novella it flashes back to Snow's childhood where ; Snow's neighbor ( Mr. Seasons ) was robbed and killed. Snow knew who had done it , it was some of the neighborhood boys who barely made it out of junior high. The boys threatened and beaten Snow and told him not to tell anyone what he had seen. After Mr. Seasons funeral , Snow spoke with Landy, Mr. Season's nephew, and ended up telling him who had done it. Landy took Snow down to the stoop where the boys who killed Mr. Seasons were and Landy and his boys shot him dead. Snow didn't expect the situation to blow up like that , he thought he did enough damage so when the police came to question him, he told them the whole story. Landy got jail time and threatened to kill Snow when he came out of jail for "snitching" . Snow's mother moved with snow to Shaw and told him to mind his bussiness. A few days after Snow arrived in Shaw he got himself into trouble with a group of boys , and he mad himself one true friend ( later on he makes more ). Snows grandmother gets sick so his mother has to leave town to help her out , and leaves Snow with his cousin Derrick . Thats when Snow became 'hocked' to the streets and he began to start selling drugs .

" If I'd only had the foresight to understand how what I'd been doing affected her, how I had put her at risk without meaning to, how I'd been blind to it all until it was too late " ( Jasper 62 )
Reaction :
Snow thinks this when he gets locked up and his mother comes to where they have him in holding. He thinks she came to bail him out but she came to tell him that she is kicking him out and leaving all his stuff at his friends house and also to tell him she knew it was a mistake to leave when her mom got sick and she also asked him why he has become so bad . A few hours later the released him with a warning because it was his first offence. When he got out his friend helped him get a job and she helped him get out but soon after when his boys got out he got right back into the same things. I feel like Snow only felt sorrow for his mother in the moment because he got back to doing what he was doing after a while . I also feel like if he stayed in there longer he would of came out a diffrent person .

Snow ( 1 - 25 ]
Summary :
The novella starts out with a flash back of how the protagonist , Snow , got his name in middle school. It also states why he likes snow and the positive connotation to snow. Snow lives in D.C and he is a thug/gangster. He wants to get out of the "game" but he's stuck, not only because he is to used to these bad habits but also because he is too deep into it. Snow has a daughter and is married to a lawyer. His wife is used to Snow's habits because her father was into the same business as snow. Snow attempts to rob these men who are also doing illegal business and ends up getting chased by the police and fleeing the scene. Snow refuses to go home empty handed, so he robs a drug warehouse. So in this robbery he ends up killing everyone in the building except for a crying baby who reminded him of his own. Snow left the scene with the money, his guns, a gun shot wound, and the thought of that baby on his mind .
- I find it interesting how each section begins with Snow talking about snow.

" It ain't that I wanted to be selling death for cash " ( Jasper 4 ).
Reaction :
Snow uses a metaphor when comparing drugs to death. He lets it be known that he sells drugs in this sentence. He obviously knows that its a bad thing to do but he continues to do it, not because he has to just because he wants to and hes used to these " hood " habits. Even though Snow claims he doesnt want to sell drugs , he does because he has other options, his wife is a lawyer.
